Allandra's Religion

Allandra is the Antrippan Goddess of Trade. Her faith is neutral-aligned. Followers of Allandra can be identified by the platinum ankh that they wear. The ankh has been the symbol of Allandra since Her earliest days of worship, as trade was the means by which Her following was able to survive; the life-giving power of the ankh manifest. The Goddess's clergy and high clergy instead wear a replica of Her caravel, The Arcadium Siren, on a platinum chain.

Allandra favors the use of a cutlass, as it is easy to maneuver with one on the deck of a moving ship. The cutlass is also useful for slicing rope or breaking down barrels, tasks which might need to be done on the open water and away from other tools. In Her off-hand, She chooses to wield a navigational cross-staff, the tool by which She finds favorable tradewinds and navigates new trade routes. Her ability to sail and captain The Arcadium Siren has earned Her the moniker 'Platinum Corsair', and She wears it proudly.

Life at sea has demanded that the Goddess dress in light leather and linen. She also keeps close a gift from Her husband Rhadrin, who has been in a long sleep for centuries: an enchanted treasure chest able to hold much more than its exterior appearance might indicate. Her touch can be seen in the Antrippan Trade Market, as many regions have come now to share their wares. She has a small temple here as well, and has sponsored a skyport that makes trade and travel across Antrippa much easier. When She is felt in the lands, She can normally be found chatting with Her friend Syd, who runs the tavern called “The Captain's Quarters” on the northern edge of the Market.

Those who seek the favor of the Goddess without joining Her faith can attempt to become an Agent of Trade; this designation is also available to those who are part of the Goddess's religion.

Helpfile

Worship of the Goddess Allandra stretches back centuries, to the days before the sundering. Earliest worshippers depicted Her as a powerful louryl woman, often captaining a ship. Later iterations of Her cult worshipped Her as a Dragon Queen, ruling over a massive amount of treasure gathered from trade dealings. When the sundering of the heavens happened, Allandra was realized in Her dragon form. Mortals being fickle, worship of Allandra fell off in favor of Jiawyr, the God of Commerce and Wealth. Her cult faded.

Events surrounding the imprisonment of the Goddess Yalelia sent enough turbulance through the heavens that old, forgotten deities were awakened. Among them was Allandra, returned to Her louryl form and captaining Her privateer ship. The elements of Thraya were so unbalanced that a great hurricane swept Allandra's ship towards Gosport, where She immediately saw the new Trade potential of the Lensmoorian coast.

Goddess Allandra returns to the seas, championing Trade routes between continents and robust economic transactions across the world. Those who worship Her conduct business of all kinds, but all under the banner of neutrality. A contract is always executed right to the letter, with no interpretation of good or evil within its pages.

Background

The history of Goddess Allandra is long and storied. Myths say once She was mortal, born to a poor louryl family in the middle of the desert. Allandra Herself has never confirmed this origin.

It is known that in the days of Her earliest cults, She was shown as a louryl. Depictions of Her often showed Her on the deck of a ship, and that ship was usually sailing across calm seas. In these days, worship of Allandra centered around microtransactions, bartering and simple trade between civilizations.

As civilizations advanced, worship of Allandra began to depict Her as a mighty dragon, rivalling the Goddess Orinn who ruled over War. During this iteration of Her cult, She was called the Dragon Queen. She was often shown as a massive acid dragon protecting Her hoard of treasure. When the Antrippan Pantheon came into existence, this is the form in which She was worshipped. In these days, She developed a relationship with the God Rhadrin, Lord of Illusions, and They married.

These early days of the Antrippan Pantheon were extremely turbulent. Gods and Goddesses that were once small cults suddenly found themselves in the spotlight. Such was the case with the God Jiawyr, who ruled Commerce and Wealth, and His cult clashed with that of Allandra's. Eventually, His cult won out and Allandra faded from memory.

Finding Herself alone, She set sail on Her ship for what She believed was Her last voyage. As it turned out, though that voyage lasted for centuries, it was not to be Her last after all. Events thrust the Goddess of Trade back into the world, and She found Herself once again in modern memory. Returned to Her louryl form, She oversees trade routes and caravans. She champions a robust international economy and attracts those who seek to increase their fortunes through business dealings.

Personality

The Goddess Allandra is generally jovial. She is easy-going and fairly carefree. However, business is business and all contracts must be completed. Allandra will always seek a contract completed to its letter, absent any other mercy or cruelty that might be a result of its wording.

Allandra no longer discriminates between continents, as Trade between them benefits Her.
