Deity: Ejhala

Portfolio: Mystery and Illusion

Accepts Align: Chaos

Continent: Antrippa

Cult: No

Ejhala is the Antrippan God of Mystery and Illusion.

His followers have curious minds for the secret illusions of history and the mysteries they conceal. Because mysteries are often timeless, followers are also keen on discovering secret stories of the present. This unique type of knowledge feeds both mischievous-minds and wise-sages alike. Mystery and illusion is viewed as a powerful force. Creation of these is seen as a sign of pseudo-immortality: to create history.

The results of such intrusive conduct against society may seem like an attack on accepted norms; appearing chaotic to those without the proper mental-wherewithal to organize such thoughts. “It's not me, it's you.”

Ejhala's followers gravitate toward: mischief-makers and illusionists; unorthodox scholars and historians; conspiracy theorists; and rebels of society.

There are secrets buried in the sands of Antrippa, and around the world; best start digging.

Their background is defined as: Ejhala's history is a cumulation of several thousands of years of cascading events. Much of this history is taboo rumor; lost to the sands of Antrippa, apart from knowledge acquired by the most adventurous explorers.

[BE - Before Ejhala]

During the forgotten age of Antrippa the Elomani were the pinnacle of civilization. After a long struggle for ultimate power, an epic, cataclysmic event rocked civilization world-wide, seen as a rebuttal by the Gods themselves. The briefly functioning Deus Machine brought the wrath of the heavens onto mortal soil.

The Elomani fractured apart, impacting the histories on both Lensmoor and Antrippa, through battles, struggles, and new settlements. Wars waged for years, decades, until the original designer of the Deus Machine was finally slaughtered by the Elomani, forever banishing his name from their history.

Ages later, new generations repeated the mistakes of the past. This time, however, the lack of scientific knowledge became their downfall. To prevent tragedy, a small band of warriors came to stop the now outcast alchemist from re-engaging the Deus Machine. It was too little, too late. The Deus Machine had failed: instead of immortality, the power was perverted, creating demi-god like demons from mortals, distorted and perverted into horrific killers. Ulrianth was one of these demons, quickly accumulating power and becoming an ultimate force. He eventually fled, however.

Battles waged on. Time was forgotten. The machine split into three parts, spread over Antrippa and was buried…

[AE - After Ejhala]

Then, Lew Feywood, with his band of scientists and explorers, rediscovered its power and successfully transmogrified several mortals into demi-gods, including himself and Ejhala. This process took far longer than was intended, disappearing for many lifetimes under the sands. They emerged as groups at different times. While Feywood and his closest companions emerged from the deserts first, word spread across Antrippa about the event. Memories of destroyed cities and the heavenly interventions became a rallying cry to intervene.

Four of Feywood's exploring party, Ejhala included, were taken by force before history could repeat itself. In showing good faith to the Gods, Antrippan warriors took them to Dey to make a deal with a demi-god demon: Ulrianth. One of his off-spring, Rash'La, had been attacking cities across Antrippa as tribute to her father. The Antrippan elders of the time negotiated that Rash'La would be declared the Queen Regent of Kyritis City and remain in Kyritis Palace in the name of her father, Ulrianth. Included in the exchange was the imprisonment of Feywood's remaining party, beneath the mountain on which Dey stood.

This peace agreement benefited everyone. Rash'La installed to power, fighting ceased, and all cities prospered without bloodshed. Ulrianth laid claim to additional power, inhabiting Dey permanently, while Ejhala and the three others were sealed into the depths for eternity.

The four spent decades, if not centuries, pondering their existence; pondering their ideals. One committed to purity while another demanded evil-driven vengeance and retaliations. One committed to re-balancing the order of the world, in a neutral capacity. Ejhala saw this endless philosophizing in a sealed prison cell as merely an illusion to history.

The true mystery is how exactly they escaped. The changes from the Deus Machine were already set in motion, now released from the seal. While the three others remain a mystery yet to history, Ejhala ascended even higher, transcending his mortal form entirely.

Their personality is defined as: Ejhala is a mysterious being, fascinated with illusions and mysteries. This propensity for illusions leaves much room for shifting shapes, giving deceptions and concealing information. The mysteries of the past and future intrigues him greatly. Slow to temper, Ejhala is more likely to impact history moving forward than act rashly and quickly. The largest deviation from the present, natural course of the world is the most appealing.

Ejhala is most interested in the discovery of lost information (mysteries), or hidden information (illusions), that changes the perception of history in the past, present, and future.
